雑感 〜 スーパー8、50周年
2015-50=1965 ... Super-8 released in 1965! It's kind of new!?
Single-8 which Fuji Film have released is out also in the same year of 1965, surprisingly. It sounds that Super-8 is new and Single-8 is old in the history of 8mm movie standards.
Before them, Double-8 was released in 1932 from Kodak. It used two lanes of 8mm wide tracks on a 16mm wide film. It was cut in center to separate as 8mm films after developping. Double-8 was also called as Regular-8, Standard-8 and Normal-8. depends on coutries.
Single-8 film was not the first standard for Fuji Film. They released B/W Reversal Double-8 film in 1953 and Color Double-8 film in 1957.
8mm movie has some standards like 16 flames/sec., 18 flames/sec., 24 flames/sec., different perforation width and so on.
In autumn of 2014, Tokyo-Ko-On Ltd. announced 4K scanning for 8mm movies. They say, "The resolution and perspective are so fantastic! "Ko-On" means "Lights and Sound".
